NewsCurrent Newsletter Topic of the Month: Creating the Perfect Smile Many people are unhappy with their appearance due to the color, shape or general alignment of their teeth. A beautiful and attractive smile has been proven to help boost confidence and self-esteem, both professionally and romantically. Creating the perfect smile differs from person to person, usually requiring more than one cosmetic dentistry procedure, with the cost and length of time needed to complete a new smile depending on the treatment(s) required. At US Dental Care, our team of trained specialists work closely together to ensure you complete your ‘Smile Makeover’ with teeth to be proud of: perfectly straight and white. The most common procedures used to reach this result include: Orthodontics Orthodontics deals with the alignment of the teeth and jaw, to correct problems such as crooked or overcrowded teeth, over- or underbites, incorrect jaw positioning and disorders of the jaw joints. The type of ‘braces’ you wear and how long you will need to wear them depends on your specific needs. Invisalign works by gradually moving teeth through virtually invisible aligners and is used as an attractive alternative to traditional braces. Implants A dental implant is a device that replaces the root of a natural tooth, fixed into the jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge permanently in place. They do not rely on other teeth for support and do not require your teeth to be cut down, as with a bridge. The implant process takes time and is usually completed in two stages, by the end of which your teeth will look and feel like natural teeth. Implant surgery should only be performed by a qualified dentist (our Dental Director, Dr. Alla Anastos, is a fully qualified implantologist). Veneers Veneers are ultra-thin layers of ceramic material that are bonded to the front of teeth to mask discolorations and defects, brighten teeth and improve a smile. This procedure can be ideal for improving the appearance of the front teeth. The process of fitting veneers takes a few weeks for the diagnosis, planning, preparation and bonding stages to be completed. Whitening Dental whitening is the process of removing stains or discoloration from teeth. Most home whitening systems take two to six weeks to complete, whilst ZOOM whitening is done at the clinic and takes about an hour to complete. Your dentist will advise the best whitening treatment for your requirements and sensitivity of your teeth. Creating the perfect smile is a very individual process; some people may just need a thorough cleaning and touch-up treatment whilst others may need a lot of work done, spread out over a number of months or even years. Our aim is for all our patients to be 100% happy and comfortable with the services we offer and with the results of their new smile.
