CHECK UP EXAMINATION
When you see your dentist they are likely to take some x-rays.
You can be confident that if you have any problems, your dentist will find them!
Diagnostic x-rays or iCAT Scan - will detect any signs of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss. X rays will also help determine tooth and root positions.
Oral cancer screening - your doctor will check your face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues and gums for any sign of oral cancer.
Gum disease evaluation - your doctor will check the gums and bone around the teeth for any sign of periodontal disease.
Examination of tooth decay - all the surfaces of your teeth will be checked for tooth decay.
Assess whether you need to increase your fluoride intake
Examination of existing restorations - all your current fillings, crowns etc. will be checked.
At your dental exam, you have the chance to talk to your doctor about any of your concerns. Additionally, if you are considering any cosmetic dentistry, your dentist will be able to advise you.
